December 2025
Hello everyone,
I would like to offer my thanks to you all for your incredible support and kindness throughout my year as Captain of the AGS. It was an honour for me to hold the position.
We had 12 very successful fixtures, exceptional weather (for the UK) and outstanding golf courses. All followed by a brilliant Christmas Luncheon at the Royal Lancaster Hotel. Great speakers and comedian. Fantastic food. Superbly organised as ever by Jane.
To those not at the lunch, I can confirm that I completed the Sleepout on the 24th November. An altogether most unpleasant experience, and one that I will never voluntarily undertake again. To date I have raised in excess of £13,000 including Gift Aid for the Church Homeless Charity. Thank you so very much to all who sponsored me.
On top of this you have generously supported the “Blob Bucket” and “Nearest the Pin” across the year, also contributing to the Charity.
I am truly grateful to all of you. We are members of a fantastic Golf Society.
Thank you and wishing you and your families all the very best for Christmas and the New Year.

A NOTE FROM YOUR AGS CAPTAIN 2025
Hello Members,
We live in very tough times at present and where the focus, particularly in the media, is shone in one direction where other issues closer to home are ignored.
We have thousands of people – ex-servicemen, people with mental health problems, individuals who have fallen into hardship, and many more – homeless and sleeping rough every night.
As you know my chosen charity as Captain for the 2025 year is The Church Homeless Charity. We are already raising funds via the Nearest the Pin Challenge, Blob Bucket and other ideas. However, in order to raise further funds I have personally registered to take part in a sleepout, overnight in the open at Lords Cricket ground on 24th November.
I am appealing to you as fellow members of the AGS to support me in this quest to raise not only funds, but awareness of the plight of many in the UK.
There is no obligation, however, the link below will take you to the site to enable you to support me in this and I would be most grateful if you could make a pledge, no matter how small.
If you feel, as I do, that this is a worthwhile cause, please also share the link with your friends and family.
