A NOTE FROM YOUR INCOMING AGS CAPTAIN 2026
Dear AGS Members,
As you are aware I have selected The Alzheimer's Society as my Captain’s charity this year. This choice carries personal significance, and I recognise that many others may share similar experiences.
My father is living with Alzheimer’s disease, and its gradual effects are deeply felt. He has had a distinguished career as a golf professional, progressing from modest beginnings to working alongside esteemed professionals such as John Jacobs at Sandy Lodge and Glass Gerard de Wit at Hilversum before becoming the professional at Lutterworth and then Woking. He competed in the Open on two occasions and was notably recognised as the only bearded professional at a time when the PGA discouraged beards! He was professional at Woking Golf Club for 34 years, where he taught several celebrity golfers.
Although his wealth of anecdotes are sadly fading, his legacy of enjoying golf remains. In honour of this spirit, I will use a Hickory shafted wood for my drive-in at SGH on April 1st. Contributions in support of The Alzheimer's Society can be made via my Just Giving Page; any support is sincerely appreciated but entirely voluntary.

Thank you
