Gary's Skydive 2020
"On a wonderful clear and crisp morning I travelled to Headcorn in Kent to take the leap! The attached pictures are superb, however I also had the skydive captured on a Go-Pro. It might look a bit terrifying, however, it was a great experience and a true adrenaline rush.
The video is available on YouTube
Rays of Sunshine are extremely grateful for your kind donations and it’s thanks to supporters like you that they have been able to continue brightening the lives of seriously and terminally ill children across the UK during this especially difficult time.
Whether it’s through granting virtual wishes, delivering toys and teddy bears to hospitals or providing treats to families who have had their wishes postponed, they’ve been working hard to provide precious moments of escape for their beneficiaries.

Dear Members,
You are all aware that I had planned to take on the Ride London in August to raise funds for my charity, Rays of Sunshine. Sadly, the event was cancelled, so I then intended to tackle the Great South Run in October, but this too met with the same fate!
I did mention at Sunningdale and Goodwood that I intended to do a parachute jump. Well, I’m not sure if I am pleased to advise that the date has been confirmed for Wednesday, November 4th, when I will be hurtling towards Kent from 15,000 ft!
You have all been very generous supporting Rays of Sunshine through the “Blob Bucket” and the 2.6 AGS Challenge and I would be incredibly grateful if you could dig deep to support me again?
I have set up a Just Giving page for you to make donations: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Gary-Sewell3
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at St Georges Hill on the 28th October for my last golfing day of the year.
Thank you!
Kind regards
Gary

Dear Members,
Tomorrow, Wednesday, 13th March we were scheduled to be striding the fairways of Hankley Common, instead we are probably booking tee times to restart golf at our local clubs under the new social distancing guidelines. I live nearby to Hankley Common and can confirm the course is in great condition ready for golf to recommence.
Thank you to everyone who has generously supported our 2.6 Challenge to help raise funds for Rays of Sunshine. As I write we have raised just over £300 to replace the funds we normally receive through “The Blob Bucket”. There is still plenty of time to attempt the challenge or if you would rather not share your chipping skills then please consider donating through our Just Giving page. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/aircraft-golfing-society-26-challenge
Enjoy your golf under the new restrictions and I look forward to seeing you later in the year.

Dear Members,
Rays of Sunshine is our chosen charity for 2020. However, due to the impact of the Coronavirus, our golf events at Parkstone and Hankley Common have been cancelled. I’m sure many of you have heard about the 2.6 initiative to replace the funds lost by charities as a result of the cancellation of the London Marathon.
Therefore, to help and also replace the funds we normally receive through “The Blob Bucket”, we are taking on a fun golf challenge of chipping six golf balls from 2.6 metres into a bucket. Please have a go at the challenge or simply donate.
I’ve already had a go and you can see the video on YouTube here. We will also post on Instagram (aircraft_golfing_society) and our LinkedIn page.
I’d like to encourage you all to have a go at the challenge and as an extra incentive we will provide an AGS event discount voucher for anyone who can chip all six balls into a bucket or small container (Video evidence required). Also, please get your golfing mates to have a go - I’m sure they could all do with a little practice at the moment!
Please video your challenge and send a copy to my WhatsApp account (07775 927611) so that I can then share on Instagram.

Good luck and thank you for your support.

Dear Members,
I trust everyone is safe and well and you’ve enjoyed a relaxing Easter? The weather over the past two weeks has been superb and such a shame we cannot enjoy the magnificent golf courses we are blessed with in the UK, however, golf at the moment is not our priority and it’s important we follow the government advice until we can resume normal activities.
Just over a month has passed since Captain’s Day at the stunning St George’s Hill GC and I want to thank you for the tremendous support at my drive-in. No one was more surprised than I to see my drive find the fairway! Congratulations to all the winners on the day and in particular, Stephen Lochhead, for winning the Captain’s Day Trophy with 38 points and Mark Shanley for winning the Mervyn Grubb with a gross 74. Lawrence Bright took the prize for the guests with an outstanding 39 points and Tony Daly won the Veterans prize with 33 points.
It was great to have Joanne Benisty join us from Rays of Sunshine, she gave a brief overview of how the charity brightens the lives of seriously ill young people and their families, by granting wishes and providing ongoing support in hospital and within the community. Rays of Sunshine is my chosen charity for 2020 and I’m very pleased to have been able to help make a wish come true for one very deserving young man. Harvey wanted to experience what it was like to visit the flight deck of an Airbus A380 and to sit in a First Class seat! It was great to see the immediate benefit the day had on raising the spirits of Harvey and his family. Many thanks to British Airways for making it all happen. You can see the video by following this link. Harvey's Wish
In August I have committed to tackle the Prudential Ride London and I’m pleased to have Kevan Bishop, Graham Gabb and Mark Kelsey join me. If anyone else would like to join us, then please do let me know ASAP as we do have a few more spaces available through Rays of Sunshine. Soon, I will be setting up a fundraising page so that we can all support this very deserving charity.
You will all know by now that our events at Parkstone and Hankley Common have been cancelled. Hopefully we will be able to resume in June at Ashridge and start the long road back to normality?
When all this is over the first thing I plan to do is stand on the 1st Tee at Puttenham Golf Club, take a deep breath and appreciate being back before I hit my tee shot. The second thing I will do is hit a provisional!
Keep safe and take care.
