The Captain's Day at St. George's Hill - 2nd April 2025
l, finally the first write-up of the 2025 AGS golfing year! It was all about the “Captain’s Drive-In” and it was wonderful to be back on the golf course at our “Home Club” – St George’s Hill. Mark Barlow had his drive-in at 8.40am and managed a good drive – although I think he may have preferred it to have gone further. He was watched by many supporting AGS members and their guests. Well done Mark – not a bad swing at all!
Having suffered some terrible weather previously we were so lucky with the day, no rain and even some sunshine. Not sure everyone read the same forecast as those wearing shorts were a “tad cold” with the northerly breeze on the day! The course was in fantastic condition considering the weather we have had and as always, the lunch after golf did not disappoint with a wonderful spread for the players and enjoyed by all.
The Halfway Hut and the very generous prizes were very kindly sponsored by your Captain, Mark Barlow. Thank you Mark!
Your Captain has chosen Church Homeless Charity as his charity for 2025 and we hope that you will very generously support them throughout the year. We were joined by Miriam Morris and Andrew Deutsch from the Charity. Andrew played golf as Mark’s guest and Miriam joined us for lunch and, prior to prize-giving, told us a little about the work they do, which was very well received. Thank you Miriam.
The nearest the pin entries and blob bucket were well supported, so thank you all for your kind donations.
Many thanks to Wayne Wilson, Rob Clark and Rod Scott for their photographs.
And congratulations to the winners of the day:
