The Captain's Day at St. George's Hill - 3rd April 2024
It was wonderful to be back on the golf course at our “Home Club” – St George’s Hill. It is not only our “Home Club” as this is the new Captain’s “Home Club” too! Brian Lovelock had his drive-in at 8.50am and what a good drive he hit too, watched by many supporting AGS members and their guests. Well done Brian – all he said after was that he was so relieved to actually hit a decent shot!
Having had such terrible weather which seems to have been forever, we were so incredibly lucky to start the day with fairly clear skies and not too cold. Only one heavy rain shower towards the end of the round for most but this never dampens the spirit of the players. The course was in fantastic condition considering the amount of rain that has fallen during the past months. The lunch after golf, as usual, did not disappoint with a wonderful spread for the players and enjoyed by all.
The Halfway Hut and the fabulous prizes, beautifully presented, were very generously sponsored by your Captain, Brian Lovelock. Thank you Brian. A special day for Brian as his son won first prize for the Visitors. I cannot fail to also mention the outstanding score of 44 points from our winner of the day, Wayne Wilson. Well played Wayne.
Your Captain has chosen Children With Special Needs Foundation as his charity for the year and we hope that you will very generously support this wonderful charity throughout the year. Gordon Parris from the Charity joined us for lunch and, prior to prize-giving, he briefed us on details about the Charity, which was very well received. Thank you.
The nearest the pin entries and blob bucket were well supported so thank you all for your kind donations.
Many thanks to Rob Clark for the photographs.
