West Hill, 14th July
This was our first golf event since lockdown, and it was wonderful to see so many people wanting to come out and play in our Society day at West Hill.
We had 48 players, a fabulous day was had by all who attended this beautiful course and we were so lucky with the weather this year. Clearly the day had to be managed with all the new restrictions in place, but it would seem that all members and guests alike enjoyed the most fantastic day. With staggered registration and tee times, social distanced picnic lunch and restricted time on the terrace, nothing dampened the spirits of the players.
Thanks to Stuart for stepping into Tony’s shoes for our results speech. Obviously no formal prize presentation was allowed but our congratulations to John McCarthy for his wonderful score on the day and he was allowed to collect his trophies from a separate table.
Gary, our Captain, was, as always, present and cheerful, even though this isn’t quite the Captain’s year he ever envisaged – did any of us?! Anyway we managed to gather some donations for his charity through the Blob Bucket on the day and there is more to come from others who promised to donate online to our bank account.
Thanks go to you for your generous donations to his charity, Rays of Sunshine.
Now onto the scores for the day:
The Truelove Salver for the lowest nett score was won by John McCarthy – Net 67
