History and Aims

History

The Aircraft Golfing Society was formed in 1944.  Under the guidance of Brian Songhurst and subsequent secretaries it has grown to be one of the largest golfing societies in the country, with twelve to fourteen annual playing fixtures at home and abroad, and various social events.

Aims

The Society was formed to promote contact and communication between executives of the aircraft industry and to develop friendship through a mutual enjoyment of playing golf on some of the most beautiful golf courses in the country.

As it is a non profit-making organisation, a charitable aspect has now been added with proceeds of fund-raising events being donated to causes targeted by the Society.

At the beginning of his term, the incoming Captain selects a charity for the year to be the main recipient of donations.

Membership

Membership is open to persons engaged in or connected with the aerospace industry; applicants are admitted to membership by the unanimous vote of the Committee. The membership subscription is £85 and there is a once-only joining fee of £70. Send an email enquiry.

Events

An average of ten golfing fixtures are played each year at prestigious events.
Annual General Meeting and Dinner, February/March
Christmas Lunch, 2nd Monday in December.
