History and Aims
History
The Aircraft Golfing Society was formed in 1944. Under the guidance of Brian Songhurst and subsequent secretaries it has grown to be one of the largest golfing societies in the country, with twelve to fourteen annual playing fixtures at home and abroad, and various social events.
Aims
The Society was formed to promote contact and communication between executives of the aircraft industry and to develop friendship through a mutual enjoyment of playing golf on some of the most beautiful golf courses in the country.
As it is a non profit-making organisation, a charitable aspect has now been added with proceeds of fund-raising events being donated to causes targeted by the Society.
At the beginning of his term, the incoming Captain selects a charity for the year to be the main recipient of donations.
