The Captain's Day at St. George's Hill - 11th March 2020
Back at St George’s Hill again for our start of the season and the Club we love so much. The first dry day we have had in such a long time so it was rather special and everyone was in good spirits just to be able to get out and play some golf again. We had the most fabulous day for Gary Sewell to have his drive-in and what a brilliant drive he hit off the first tee, witnessed by most of the players there on the day. Before they all set out to play they each received a sleeve of balls which Gary had generously supplied. He also very generously sponsored the Halfway Hut – which I am sure was enjoyed by many of you! Thank you Gary.
As always, St George’s provided a wonderful meal for everyone after the golf and this was followed by the traditional prize-giving led by Tony Cash and assisted by Gary. We also had with us Jo Benisty from “Rays of Sunshine”, the Charity which our Captain has chosen for his year. Jo gave us a very informative speech about Rays of Sunshine and I hope that you will all be most generous throughout the year to support this very worthwhile Charity.
My thanks go to Graham Gabb and Mark Shanley for their photography skills. Much appreciated. Although, looking at the picture of the winner of the Mervyn Grubb, one can’t be sure what your next move was Mark!!..... Moving on swiftly to the results……
