Goodwood, 3rd September
We ventured to a new golf venue on 3rd September – Goodwood Golf Club. A fabulous course which was in fantastic condition.
We were very fortunate with the weather – a slightly murky start to the day but the players were so lucky to complete their round of golf with no delays as in some surrounding areas fog had stopped play. The players were given unique Goodwood buggies to travel the course, which were quite an experience!
Clearly home territory favoured our member Steve Cloran as he came in with a winning score of 37 points. Well played Steve! I must also mention Andrew Newell’s guest, Lee Wood, as he plays off scratch and came in with 40 points – an amazing score!
We were allocated a marquee area adjacent to the main Kennels which was rather different! With social distancing it all seemed to work very well and, after golf, members and guests were given a freshly cooked BBQ with an array of accompaniments which was delicious and enjoyed by all. Goodwood looked after us very well.
A big thank you to our Captain, Gary Sewell, for running the day and presenting the prizes for the day.
Results as follows:
Members:
1st Steve Cloran - 37 points – handicap cut by 2
2nd John Thorne - 35 points – handicap cut by 1
3rd Adam Dowling - 31 points
Guests:
1st Lee Wood - 40 points
2nd Con Vandersluis - 36 points
3rd David Hicks - 34 points
Well played all!
