Sherwood Forest - 25th May 2022
At the end of May, we finally had a trip “Up North” when we ventured to Sherwood Forest for a fabulous event. Although on this occasion, our sponsor, David Snelson, told us it was “not really Up North”! A fantastic course, difficult greens to test them all and then got a little wet as well. As always, the rain never detracts from the ambience of members and guests alike after play. We were looked after really well and I think the vote for another trip “Up North”, or even “Further Up North” was very positive!
For this particular event the AGS decided to present a “one off” trophy to the winner – a beautiful decanter to commemorate Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. This was won by Andrew Quigley – who I think even surprised himself with his score of 41 points on the day! Well played Andrew. The downside only being that he gets a handicap cut of 2.
Thank you to David Snelson of WAER Systems for generously sponsoring the event. The prizes were very well received - the “Whispering Angel” went down a treat!
Your Captain, Rob Clark, again kindly supplied the prize for the Nearest The Pin. This was won by Rich Ford, a guest of Mark Shanley. Thank you to all who entered, your donations go to the Captain’s charity The OLLIE Foundation.
Thank you also to Andy Fogden for being the photographer for the day.
Congratulations to the following prize-winners:
Members:
1st Andrew Quigley 41 points – handicap cut of 2
2nd Rob Clark 36 points – Back 9 – handicap cut of 1
3rd Jon Evans 36 points
Guests:
1st Richard Mitchell 39 points
2nd Paul Chaplin 37 points
3rd Iain Currie 36 points
Nearest The Pin: Rich Ford
A good day was had by all!
