The Captain's Day at St. George's Hill - 6th April 2022
It was wonderful to be back on the golf course at our “Home Club” – St George’s Hill. We welcomed a full field for the Captain’s Drive-In on 6th April so there were many of you to witness the Captain hit his drive down the first! This year Rob managed to be on the tee at 8.30 for all to see! (Unlike last year when Les was allowed to tee off early!). Well done Rob.
Unfortunately everyone had to get wet at some point – either at the beginning or the end of the day, but this didn’t deter from the brilliant atmosphere in the dining room after play. The course was in amazing condition and the lunch didn’t disappoint either, so it was enjoyed by all.
The Halfway Hut and the fabulous prizes were very generously sponsored by your Captain, Rob Clark. Thank you Rob.
Your Captain has chosen The OLLIE Foundation as his charity for the year and we hope that you will very generously support this wonderful charity throughout the year. Stuart Falconer, the founder of the charity, gave us a few words about the Foundation which was very well received. Thank you.
The blob bucket was extremely successful and thank you all for your donations.
Unfortunately our Hon Sec, Stuart Burdess, was unable to attend the day due to the “dreaded Covid”.
Rod Scott took charge and very ably ran the prize-giving on the day – and even won a prize himself! Well done Rod!
A little bit like last year when it was a “Tim Bygate” day as he won so many trophies – it was Gary Sewell’s turn this year winning three prizes. Well done Gary!
At the end of prize-giving an auction took place. Dan Catchesides very kindly donated a “Ceremony of The Keys” voucher to be auctioned in aid of the Captain’s charity. This was hugely successful and we received 2 bids of £800 each from Mike Parkinson and Graham Higgins. Thank you Mike and Graham. Dan has generously given us a voucher for each of these bidders to take 4 people to the Tower of London for the Ceremony. A huge thank you to Dan for enabling us to raise a substantial amount of money for The OLLIE Foundation on our first outing. This is very much appreciated.
Many thanks to Kevan Bishop and Wayne Wilson for the photographs.
