Berkshire 26th June 2019
What a fantastic day everyone had at The Berkshire at the end of June. It was a lovely warm day although not quite “the shorts and little white socks” that was promised with the forecast! Another successful event and the day was enjoyed by a very good field. Clearly the day was “made” by our member and Past Captain, David Snelson, who came in with the most incredible score of 46 points and playing off a handicap of 6 too! What a truly amazing and unbelievable day David had and he was quite the worthy winner of the beautiful trophy. Well played David! His guest, Jamie Shepherd was not so “shabby” either as he came in with an amazing score of 41 points playing off “scratch” and won the Visitors Plaque. It must be a dream to play golf like these two did on that day!
The Nearest The Pin was won by Nick Bungey, a guest of Joe Griffiths and he was presented with a lovely looking bag from Fortnum and Mason, kindly donated by our Captain, Steve Fitz-Gerald. Nick also came in 2nd for the Visitors with a very credible score of 38 points on count back from another guest of David Snelson, Justin Moran-Healy.
The day was very generously sponsored by Joe Griffiths of The Camberley Group and they provided some fabulous prizes. Unfortunately Joe was unable to wait for the prizegiving as he was flying off to Scotland that afternoon, but John Swatton very ably stood in for him in assisting Tony Cash with the prize giving.
